September in the rain
Here’s a little update about Jules Etienne occupations this month…
The recording of the Jules Etienne EP is on it’s way. We’ll be recording the EP in Hamburg with Matthias from Session Victim in October before our concert on the 18th at Ponybar. Hopefully the EP will be finished before the end of 2010. There will be guests on the EP such as our friend Martin Tetzlaff.
Steev Lemercier asked me again to take care of the recording of the new Lala by album. The name of the album will be “Charivari”. Steev is going more in the rock direction, surely inspired by the great band he has… And I’m not only talking about the drummer! Here’s a video of the last concert we had at Schwuz it’s the last song we played, a turkish song called “Dağlar dağlar”:
The Berlin music commission took “Garlic in the Pocket” from Valeron and the Coconuts for their CD sampler. Last year Valeron and I, rerecorded this song (already 3 years old as far as i remember) for his Album “Horizons Nouveaux” that is still available in my web shop… Here’s the link to the CD from the Berlin music commission:

The record from [sic!] is out in 2 weeks now! It is still distributed by Clone. The vinyl sounds great so it was worth waiting. Get a copy as there’s really not a lot. Same for the remixes from Quarion, Low Low and Errorsmith.

Et voilà!
Your Jules
“orange sky” from [sic!] the video
After a long waiting time, here it is: the [sic!] video “orange sky”! It was fun to make it. Massimiliano Pagliara and Alessandro Tartari are gorgeous in the video. it was made by Mauro Chiarello Ciardo and Valeria Palermo. The record and the remixes are also out on Meakusma. The Remixes are from Quarion (also playing the piano in my live band) Lowlow and Errorsmith. Check them out: http://clone.nl/item18680.html

Cover song wish contest
It’s been about a year i did a cover of a song from the arctic monkeys called “505″ that really flashed me. now it’s the most listened song on my myspace profile… making cover songs to get attention is a good way as we all remember jose gonzales covering the knife.
anyhow, i decided to try out something to include my audience in our playlist during concerts with a “cover song wish contest”. it’s very easy:
1. you like a song from somebody
2. you wish Jules Etienne to play it for you
3. send a message with the title of the song and the interpret
4. we dig it and cover it for you at the next concert
So now it’s up to you to send us your requests. even if you can’t make it to the concerts, we won’t see it. so let’s get started!

don’t forget the concert at Lagari on saturday!
Cafe in Kreuzkölln
There’s one new Jules Etienne and the Monsantos show in june in a nice little cafe in Kreuzkölln called Lagari. Come by! This week the focus is [sic!]. We are rehearsing almost every day to be tight enough on stage of Eupen Music Marathon in Belgium.
we’re gonna shoot a video for orange sky this week end. Looking forward since i never did any video for my music…

Jules Etienne …
Jules Etienne and the Monsantos have 2 new gigs in Berlin the next months. Ä was a great show and we’re looking forward to play again in July. This is also our first show at Basso Gallery, which also will be the second performance of the Cocteaux. Pretty happy since i’m almost the father of this project from Neda playing Pianet improvisation and Steev reading poetry from Jean Cocteau and others.
Also proud to announce the release from a [sic!] EP on meakusma very soon. Massi got the master from Rashad last week and it sounds great! Soon this music will be on vinyl. It’s a great feeling to have music on vinyl. I’d say it’s like having a child with it’s own life if i could compare… Or maybe not.
Last but not least, my band the Monsantos and I are slowly recording the demo of some new Jules Etienne songs, here’s one in 3/3 like i loved to play with the Belmondos:
